Preparing a color of light is far removed from the traditional act of mixing pigments on a wooden palette. In the making of these pieces, mixing translates into adjusting a system of electronic resistors until the desired color is achieved, and painting resembles illuminating an invisible movement, as the studio switches on and off in rhythm with the work, over many attempts.

Fantasies, visions, and intuitions disintegrate into luminosity, like soft and diffuse forms emerging from within. It’s akin to recalling a dream upon waking, and keeping it alive in memory before a moment’s carelessness allows it to slip away into forgetfulness.

Juani translates fragments from that sensitive archive we call personal memory into light paintings. Between the fascination with the intangible and the desire to capture life in form, a search unfolds—one in which the technical becomes poetic, from the first sketch to the fading of the last light.
