Imagen Regresiva
Hernán Camoletto y Luis Rodríguez
Curatorship: Florencia Battiti
Appearances, as we know, can be deceiving. At first and hasty glance, the works of Luis Rodríguez and Hernán Camoletto may seem to have little in common, neither aesthetically nor conceptually. However, by adjusting the focus of attention and, above all, by reading them within the framework of the same exhibition project, we see that their works trace points of encounter in certain gestures and processes—not necessarily in terms of similarity or analogy, but through a kind of counterpoint in which both poetics tend to influence each other, crossing paths and enhancing one another.
While Luis’s works rely on reflective materials that generate optical-kinetic effects and are necessarily completed by the viewer’s visual perception, Hernán’s pieces, by articulating text and image, directly engage our subjectivity, triggering a cascade of resonances and associations. An expansive and vibratory action in one, a concentrated and reflective gesture in the other, a balanced formal and tonal economy in both, bringing the materials to their fullest expressive and meaningful potential.
Imagen regresiva is a two-person solo exhibition, a temporal and spatial snapshot of a dynamic collaborative process that began some time ago and will continue beyond this exhibition. An opportunity, as the artists themselves note, to conceive the show as an image, a sort of photograph that freezes their processes and presents the works as final pieces—albeit only up to today.
