If technology is an appendix or extension of memory, Desea apagar el sistema seeks to explore the blurred edges between physical memory and RAM memory of those who experienced the incorporation of the computer into the triple w of their daily lives.
Damián Monti Falicoff
Artist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. He has taken workshops and clinics with various national and international artists. He is part of research, management, and production groups in contemporary art. He has undertaken residencies in public and private institutions such as Residencia Permeable, Escuela de Artes y Oficios del CCK, and Residencia Móvil.
He participated twice in BienalSUR: in 2019 with Sobre Mi, an audiovisual work in the group exhibition Dos museos y un río, and in 2023 with Nuevo Monumento a la Bandera, a monument in the group exhibition Cuando la casa se quema. In 2021 he was selected for the 12th Premio Itaú de Artes Visuales with Trust in the digital ages, a video installation about life in electronic devices. In 2022 he presented the curatorship of M a c r o m e m e s, the first meme collection in a contemporary art museum, in Espacio Insuficiente, an exhibition of said collection. That same year he also participated with a painting in the 15th Premio de Pintura Bancor.
His work is traversed by the internet, the archive, politics, technology, virtuality, and his own sensitivity.
